Space Gass Crack — New!
Cracks in structural elements reduce stiffness, alter stress distributions, and may lead to failure. This paper presents a practical methodology for modeling a cracked beam/column within — a finite element-based structural analysis software. Using a local stiffness reduction approach and the concept of a rotational spring at the crack location, engineers can approximate crack effects without remeshing. A worked example demonstrates the workflow, and results are validated against fracture mechanics principles.
Deflections in beams or slabs might exceed limits, causing damage to non-structural elements like glass facades or internal partitions. space gass crack
