      Microsoft sells the standard "HEVC Video Extensions" in the Microsoft Store. It is a paid license due to patent royalties.

      If you do not want to pay the $0.99, you can try to find the free "Device Manufacturer" version by:

      Some devices (Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc.) include a specific "HEVC Video Extensions from the Device Manufacturer." This is only free if your computer came with it pre-installed. You cannot download that version manually for free.

      If you prefer not to modify your system codecs, several free media players include built-in HEVC support. These players can decode H.265 videos without needing the Microsoft Store extension.
