Using qualitative analysis of platform rhetoric, user behavior studies, and legal frameworks (notably the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 and the DMCA), we argue that these sites function as complex socio-technical systems driven by infrastructural inequality, aspirational consumption, and adaptive evasion tactics. We conclude that simplistic legal enforcement fails without addressing the demand-side economics of access in emerging economies.
