The premiere episode sets the tone for a season of growth and mystery. Sam and Jay deal with the aftermath of the "ascent" while Jay becomes convinced that a stray owl lingering on the property is actually the reincarnated soul of the departed ghost.

It wasn't the usual grainy, found-footage style the show was known for. It was crisp. Impossibly crisp. The opening scene showed the main character, Sarah, sitting in her kitchen. Marcus leaned in. He could see the pores on her skin. He could see individual dust motes floating in the shaft of light cutting through the window.

"I know you're there," Sarah said, her voice trembling. "I can hear the drive writing. I can hear the fan."

Ghosts.

Not the TV show. Actual ghosts. Data echoes. Digital residues of people who had sat where he sat, watched what he watched, archived and preserved until they became the preservation itself. They were inside the container, the REMUX, the perfect copy.
