Unlike previous seasons set in the dense Liana rainforest of the Congo or the South African savanna, Season 23 embraced Greece’s own wild landscape. The camp was situated on a secluded, rocky beach accessible only by boat. Contestants faced intense summer heat (often exceeding 40°C / 104°F), high humidity near the sea, and challenging terrain including limestone cliffs, sea caves, and thorny maquis shrubland. The change of scenery brought new wildlife encounters: scorpions, endemic snakes (like the Ottoman viper), and aggressive wild boar near the camp’s perimeter.
Season 23 introduced the “Hades Gauntlet” – a three-stage endurance trial replacing the classic “Tucker Trial.” Each stage required the celebrity to retrieve stars while submerged in black water, crawling through artificial caves filled with Mediterranean critters (eels, frogs, mealworms), and finally enduring a “Greek Feast” of blended goat eyeballs, fermented squid, and live sea snails.
The debut Greek season was hosted by and Kalomira Sarantis . It followed the classic format where celebrities lived in a jungle camp, participating in "Bushtucker Trials" to earn food for their group.
