Offline activation is intended for users whose machines cannot connect to the internet due to firewall restrictions, security policies, or VPN limitations. Instead of the software "phoning home" to the Tableau server automatically, you must manually exchange license keys with Tableau via a separate, internet-connected device.

Once processed, the website will provide a download for an activation response file (typically named activation.tlf ). Move the activation.tlf file back to the offline computer.
