If you are performing a BIOS update or a hardware change (like replacing a motherboard or TPM chip), you should choose instead of Disable. Suspending keeps the data encrypted but temporarily removes the key protection so the computer won't lock you out during the hardware change. Once the change is made, BitLocker automatically resumes.
