India is a land of vast geographical diversity, and nowhere is this more evident than in its rhythmic and vibrant cycle of seasons. Unlike the Western model of four fixed quarters, the traditional Indian calendar—rooted in ancient texts like the Rtusamhara —describes six distinct seasons ( Ritus ). However, these can be beautifully understood through the universal lens of four primary phases: the awakening of Spring, the deluge of the Monsoon, the retreat of Autumn, and the embrace of Winter.
