Scissor Seven Assassin -

To pay the bills and fund his search for his past, he takes on assassination contracts. The punchline? He is terrible at it. Not because he can’t fight, but because he is fundamentally a good person. He ends up helping his targets more often than he kills them, turning the "assassin" trope on its head.

A hero is only as good as the people around him, and Chicken Island is populated by a fantastic cast.

This contrast is the show's superpower. Because we see Seven as a lovable idiot for most of the runtime, the moments where he channels his true power hit like a freight train. Watching him unleash a barrage of sword strikes (using his scissors) or manipulate invisible Ki blades reminds you: scissor seven assassin

Old Chen squinted. “You’re the assassin everyone laughs at.”

“No,” Seven panted.

His vest buzzed. The voice of his manager, Dai Bo, crackled through a hidden speaker. “Seven. You’ve been a fern for twenty minutes. Kill him or come home. The electricity bill is due.”

A special note must be made for the English dub. In an era where anime fans often strictly prefer subtitles, the English dub of Scissor Seven is frequently cited as a masterpiece of localization. To pay the bills and fund his search

10/10 Scissor Strikes.
