The Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor is a 70 km long proposed corridor that aims to connect the city of Virar in the north to Alibaug in the south. The Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor is planned as a 120-kilometer-long, 4-6 lane wide highway, with provisions for a dedicated public transport system, pedestrian and cyclist infrastructure, and utilities. The corridor will pass through the Palghar and Raigad districts, covering 11 villages and several towns. The estimated cost of the project is approximately INR 35,000 crores, which is expected to be funded through a combination of government and private investments.
The Maharashtra government recently issued a formal Government Resolution (GR) providing administrative approval for of the corridor.
