Elias sat in the dark, breathing hard. The smell of burnt plastic lingered in the air. He looked at his keyboard. The "Enter" key was melted slightly, warped by an intense heat that hadn't come from the computer.
Elias’s hands hovered over the keyboard. He shouldn't type anything. He knew better. This was a virus, or a hack, or a stress-induced hallucination. He should pull the power plug.
