Crossfire Cheating

Smilegate has introduced a "Trust Factor" system and hardware ID (HWID) bans, but determined cheaters bypass HWID bans with spoofers or by renting new "clean" virtual machines. The banning process often feels performative—a public list of banned names posted on forums, while the cheaters simply create new free accounts and return.

For a while, this worked. The "rage hackers"—players who spin around killing everyone instantly—became less common. However, this led to the rise of "closet cheaters." These are players who toggle their cheats on only when they are losing, or use "legit" settings that provide subtle assistance rather than god-mode.
