Google Drive Minions – Abusing Shared Drives as Covert C2 and Data Exfiltration Channels

Why are they there? The Google Drive Minion functions as a sort of digital bouncer for the file-sharing underground.

During the mid-2010s, the Minion became the avatar of "Minion Mom Memes." These were image macros, usually shared on Facebook by Gen X and Boomer users, featuring the yellow characters alongside jokes about drinking wine, dealing with headaches, or sassy attitude.

“Google Drive Minions” is a low-tech, high-reward attack pattern. Because Google Drive is trusted, permitted, and ubiquitous, it becomes an ideal puppet master for attackers controlling “minion” endpoints.
